Florida is the old people's state
Yes, there are a lot of senior housing in Florida.
With that in mind, does that necessarily mean that Florida is the old people's state?
I heard a lot of people saying this during my stay and before my stay.
So, I wonder how true this stereotype actually is.

Research:
As you can see above, in 1993 Florida was not the only state that had a 14% or more as its elderly population.
However, in 2010 the then Californian governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, said: ''Florida is just for old people''.
The percentage for elderly people age 65 and older grew to 17.3% in 2010.
When compared to the US as a whole which has 13% as its elderly population, Florida seems to have a higher average than the rest of the states. Though, this does not mean that Florida is the old people's state. 17.3% is not even the half of Florida's population.
In conclusion: Florida may have several more elderly people than the average US states, but this does not mean it is an old people's state.
